From 25th to 28th June 2025, Changchun, China, hosted the 8th China’s National Symposium on Applied Techniques in Beef Production, which featured the 4th China-France International Forum on Beef Cattle Industry Development. This international forum provided a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange between Chinese and French experts on the future of beef production.
Jean-François Hocquette (INRAE, France) was honoured to be invited as a keynote speaker at the event. His presentation, “How to combine agroecology, biotechnologies and modelling for beef?”, offered an in-depth overview of beef production and consumption in France, with a focus on integrating sustainability and innovation in production systems.
As part of his talk, Jean-François Hocquette also introduced the INTAQT project and the One Quality concept, emphasising the importance of harmonising meat quality assessment methods and aligning them with consumer expectations.

In addition, Yafang Cui was honoured to share her results as part of her PhD research conducted at INRAE (France).
Her presentation, titled “Prediction of beef eating quality in France under the European 3G system development”, outlined the objectives of the H2020 INTAQT project (EU Horizon 2020) and detailed the activities of the International Meat 3G Foundation within the framework of INTAQT.
Participation in this international forum highlights INTAQT’s active role in fostering dialogue between Europe and China on sustainable beef production and the future of global meat quality standards.
